Awareness & interest
Different platforms perform different jobs. We never 'post everywhere.'
Posting the same photo to seven feeds isn't a social strategy — it's a checkbox. Each platform below runs on a different algorithm rewarding different behavior, so each one gets content built for the job it actually does in the lifecycle.
The rule we build to
If a channel doesn’t have a defined job in the engine, it doesn’t get a posting calendar. “Why are we posting this?” always needs a real answer.
Seven platforms, seven jobs
What each channel is actually for.
Job first, then what the algorithm rewards, then what we publish, then the part most agencies skip: what we go looking for every week and what we weigh in on when we find it. In that order — the job decides the activity, not the other way around.
Local trust — the reference check a homeowner runs before they call.
3–4 feed posts a week, plus daily checks of local groups.
What we publish
Before/after job photos, crew spotlights, review highlights, community posts.
The algorithm rewards
Native video, comments and shares, consistent posting, local relevance.
What we search for
- Local community and neighborhood groups for every service area
- “Anyone know a good…” recommendation threads
- Local event, weather, and storm chatter that touches the trade
What we respond to
- Recommendation requests — a helpful answer, never a pitch
- Questions in comments on our own and neighbors' posts
- Misinformation about pricing or process, corrected politely with facts
Visual proof of craft — what the work actually looks like.
3–4 posts a week; engage on local hashtags between posts.
What we publish
Short-form video of jobs in progress, before/after carousels, seasonal offers.
The algorithm rewards
Reels, saves, shares, a consistent visual identity over time.
What we search for
- Local geotags and city hashtags for every market we serve
- Adjacent local businesses' posts (suppliers, realtors, tourism accounts)
- Trade and niche hashtags where the audience actually browses
What we respond to
- Every comment and DM on our own posts, same day
- Local accounts' posts with a real observation, not an emoji
- Creators featuring the area — add context only a local would know
Professional credibility — the signal that reads 'real, established business.'

The algorithm rewards
Thought-leadership posts, employee engagement, industry-specific commentary.
What we search for
- Industry association and trade-publication posts
- Local business community conversations (chambers, economic development)
- Posts from suppliers, partners, and complementary trades
What we respond to
- Industry debates where a practitioner's view adds something

TikTok
Reach — discovery with an audience search and Facebook won't find on their own.
1–2 native cuts a week; comment on niche creators between posts.
What we publish
Quick job explainers, myth-busting, honest crew personality content.
The algorithm rewards
Watch time, native short-form video, authenticity over polish.
What we search for
- Creators in the niche and the region (search terms + sounds the audience uses)
- Trending formats that fit the trade without costume-wearing
- Comment sections asking real questions under related videos
What we respond to
- Questions under our own videos, in comments or a reply video
- Big creators' videos touching our subject — one expert comment, early
- Myths and bad advice in the niche, corrected with a light touch
X
Real-time visibility — the fast-moving, timely announcement channel.
2–3 posts a week; replies daily when conversation warrants.
What we publish
Storm and weather-driven service alerts, quick tips, public customer service replies.
The algorithm rewards
Timely, concise posts, reply engagement, posting velocity.
What we search for
- Keyword and location searches for the trade and the service area
- Local news, weather, and event accounts
- Complaint and question posts mentioning the problem we solve
What we respond to
- Anyone asking a question we can answer in two sentences
- Local moments (storms, heat waves, festivals) with useful, not salesy, takes
- Mentions of the brand, fast — public customer service is marketing
Demonstrated expertise where the actual research happens.
No promotional posting. 2–3 substantive answers a week in monitored subreddits.
What we publish
Straight answers in local and trade subreddits — never a sales pitch.
The algorithm rewards
Genuinely useful, non-promotional answers inside relevant threads.
What we search for
- Local subreddits for every market we serve
- Trade / niche subreddits where buyers research before spending
- Keyword alerts: the questions people ask right before they buy
What we respond to
- “Is this a fair price / is this normal?” threads — honest practitioner answers
- Local recommendation threads, with disclosure when we're the recommendation
- Horror-story threads — explain what should have happened, no dunking
YouTube
Educational depth that a caption or a blog post can't carry.
1–2 uploads a month; weekly comment engagement on related channels.
What we publish
Full explainer videos, how-it-works walkthroughs, FAQ videos.
The algorithm rewards
Watch time, session duration, searchable how-to structure.
What we search for
- The how-to searches customers run before hiring (the video answers we should own)
- Related channels' uploads in the niche and region
- Questions in comment sections that deserve a full video answer
What we respond to
- Every comment on our own videos — the algorithm counts it and so do viewers
- Related channels' comment sections with expert additions
- Questions that come up twice — that's the next video topic
The engagement engine
Two cents a day.
Two cents a day: the brand drops one genuinely useful opinion, answer, or piece of feedback somewhere every working day. Posting is the billboard; engagement is the handshake — and the handshake is what the algorithms and the neighbors both reward.
Every working day, one genuine contribution
A useful answer in a local group, an expert comment on a rising video, a straight practitioner's take in a Reddit thread. One a day, every day, as the brand — that cadence compounds into a reputation no ad budget buys.
Search lists, not luck
Each platform has a standing list of what we go looking for — the groups, subreddits, hashtags, and searches where your next customer is already asking questions. Those lists are on the calendar as scheduled work, not good intentions.
Respond rules, not improvisation
And a standing list of what we weigh in on: recommendation threads, fair-price questions, myths worth correcting. Always useful first, always disclosed when it's us, never a pitch dressed as advice.
Why it works
Every algorithm — and every neighbor — reads consistent, helpful participation as trust. The two-cents rhythm is what turns a posting calendar into a presence, and a presence into the name people already know when they're ready to buy.
Algorithmic marketing
Modern discovery isn't just a search box anymore.
A customer still searches 'near me.' But a growing share ask an AI assistant, scroll a recommendation feed, or read a Reddit thread instead — and each of those is a different algorithm deciding whom to surface.
Written for four audiences at once
The same piece of content has to work for a human reader, a traditional search engine, a social recommendation algorithm, and an AI answer engine — simultaneously, not in four separate drafts.
The goal is a footprint, not a ranking
A broad, consistent digital presence means the business is discoverable wherever a customer happens to start researching — Google, Instagram, a forum thread, or a question typed into an AI assistant.
Consistency is the actual signal
Every algorithm in this list — human or machine — is ultimately checking whether your name, your story, and your service list agree with each other everywhere it looks.
The deep dive
Every channel is an algorithm hunting the same trust signals — including the ones that talk back.
The full philosophy behind treating search, social, and AI answer engines as one connected discovery problem instead of separate channels to manage.
